General Information

The Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo is one of the largest museums of Islamic art in the world. Founded in 1881 and housed in the former palace of Prince Amr Pasha, it contains rare manuscripts, ceramics, woodwork, metalwork and textiles dating from the 7th to the 19th century. The museum highlights the artistic and scientific achievements of Islamic civilization across Egypt and the wider region.
